Panel meeting at the Heights School- Tuesday, 20th September. Doors open at 7.30pm.

Come along and discuss noisy businesses, churches and mopeds, local yobs that stay on the street despite repeated contact with the police, pubs/schools that can't/won't control their regulars, and anything else that gets your goat.

               :)

Everybody is welcome to come and vent their spleen or just sit back and watch the fun.

I can tell the excitement is building with you, NADMR! See you there then?!  ;)

The Cambridgeshire Police non-emergency number is changing from 0345 456 456 4 to 101 from next month, but the longer one will stay in use for twelve months while people try and remember the new one (!).

So it will now be quicker to dial a number that isn't answered.. http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Home/Police-miss-20000-calls-in-60-days-14092011.htm

Good to see a few more Linton residents at the meeting tonight.
A good point was raised about the awful accident on Sunday at the Dean Road crossroads. Could the resurfacing work that was being carried out have been a contributing factor to the speed involved? The traffic lights were frustrating a few drivers who were keen to make up for lost time. During the week, the regular problem of the light operators not making allowances for rush hours had been noted (2 mile queue in one direction and only a handful of cars in the other direction).
The police Inspector, in answer to a direct question about the specific cause, was unable to shed any light on why it occurred, but said that investigations are ongoing from the evidence collected at the scene.

The next meeting will be held at the Fulbourn Centre on December 13th at 19.45.

I think the question is 'When is a £1 shop not just a £1 shop' if you know what I mean?!

That shop certainly has a history behind it!  Flat upstairs raided and house on Balsham Road. Dog unit present.

Police also very concerned that one of their van was scrapped down the side while parked in the High Street......

Heard that police found halogen lamps in flat upstairs - wonder what they were used for?

I've got halogen lamps in my garage, I use them for lighting stuff up.

Are you suggesting some sort of recreational pharmaceutical farm?

I don't know what they were used for but with the dog section outside it maybe possible.  Will have to wait for the ecops report.

I came face to face with the police convoy this morning at about 7.45 outside Sweet Talk news - I was negotiating the Coles Lane junction - my right of way - my view being blocked by a large white van parked on the double yellows outside the shop.
As I slowly crawled forward I came face to face with the first of about 7 police vehicles - we all stopped.
I motioned to the guy in the white van to look in his rear view mirror but he just ignored me and carried on munching on his breakfast - I tried again - this time pointing at the the 2 grinning police guys in the first van - white van man didn't want to know.
You should have seen his face when the police guy knocked on his window - he was off up Coles Lane before you could say 'double yellows'...!!!

in a previous raid on a house in the woodlands (made the news a couple of years back) the police got a tip off from a neighbour (not me I hasten to add) about a "constant blue light" seen behind the curtains and the lack of any noise whatsoever even though they had been told by the owner of said property that a family were renting with 3 kids in tow.

turned out the clever coppers, resorted to flying their helicopter over the house with their fancy thermal imaging camera and it was lit up like a preverbal christmas tree.

house raided the next morning early doors and caught the vietnamese chap living on his own amongst the crop red handed (or should that be green fingered?)

The excitement on the High Street last week was briefly mentioned at the end of the latest ecops missive:
           ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'You may remember that a number of months ago Linton suffered some disorder which was connected to a number of youths from the Saffron Walden, Essex area. A number of local Cambridgeshire and Essex Neighbourhood officers worked together in Linton to deal with and disperse large groups meeting for fights or to cause disruption.
Following on from an assault that occurred in Linton a Saffron Walden male was arrested and I have recently been informed that he was given a 6 month prison sentence.

Between the hours of 0100 on the 1st of September and 1000hrs on the 2nd of September at Meadow Lane, Linton offenders have damaged the newly refurbished skate board ramp, This has been done by way of fire by burning a small section of panel, possibly by a BBQ. PCSO's are continuing local enquiries and CCTV footage has been recorded and will be viewed to try and identify offenders. We are urging anybody who may be able to provide information relating to this crime to call 0345 456 456 4 or reply to this ecops.

Yesterday we received a call from a shop on Bartlow Road, Linton at 0830hrs, A suspect has entered the store and thrown goods across the floor causing damage, A crime has been recorded and officers are in the process of dealing with this and a possible offender.

Last Wednesday Local Neighbourhood, Dog Section and Response officers executed a search warrant under the misuse of drugs act at two addresses in Linton. One residential and one business premises.

Cannabis plants were recovered from one of the addresses and a local man has been bailed pending further enquiries.'
